Penguin Computing Updates Altus Product Line with Latest AMD Quad Core Processor Technology

Reno, NV (PRWEB) November 13, 2007

Penguin Computing, an AMD® Platinum Solution Provider, today announced the availability of the Penguin Altus 650 server with third-generation AMD Opteron Quad Core CPUs. The Linux-based Penguin Altus 650 server with AMD Opteron 2300 (“Barcelona”) series processors delivers enhanced compute power for high performance computing (HPC) and mission-critical enterprise applications. It is available for immediate delivery.

Penguin made this announcement today at the Supercomputing 07 conference (SC’07), where they will be exhibiting at booth #3252.

The Penguin Altus 650 rack mountable server with the AMD Opteron 2300 series processors is designed to address the performance, density and total cost of ownership requirements of facilities with large HPC clusters. The Altus 650 features the highest memory capacity available in a 1U form factor, integrated Gigabit Ethernet, high capacity hard drives and a PCI Express x16 expansion slot for high performance cluster interconnects. It is also highly energy efficient, maximizing compute power per rack and minimizing the impact on utility bills. Integrated IPMI management enables remote health monitoring and power control to reduce administrative workload in large deployments.

The new Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor is a native multi-core design with all four processing cores on a single piece of silicon. Based on AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture, AMD Opteron quad core processors provide unparalleled I/O and memory bandwidth and low latency interprocessor communication in multiprocessor configurations.

“We are delighted to bring the very latest CPU technology to our customers in technical and enterprise computing fields,” said Charles Wuischpard, president of Field Operations at Penguin Computing. “Organizations running compute intensive applications on existing Penguin Altus servers will see great returns by migrating to Quad Core CPU technology.”

cloud computing research and development with a high concentration, almost 6 years later, ZTE has recently been held in Sanya, Hainan cloud computing technology forum, the forum’s theme of “cloud-enabling technologies and enterprise applications. “internationally recognized companies IBM, EMC Dengjun participate in the forum to talk with researchers at Tsinghua University, China Committee of Experts on cloud cloud computing experts to explore key technologies and design architecture in the field of telecommunications.

With the full telecommunication networks based on IP and development of broadband telecommunications technology and IT / Internet merges with each of the other trends. Cloud has been more recent concerns of the telecommunications industry, based on the development of the idea of cloud computing internet, telecommunications network resources (including IT services, storage and software, etc.) to organize the use of cloud computing has become the new planning of telecommunications networks and construction trends.

The emergence of cloud computing, it is possible to access various services via the Internet, and can achieve the obligation to pay on demand, with the convergence of telecommunications and Internet development, cloud computing will be the same on telecommunications technology and the Internet. The technical architecture of its success will enable the telecommunications industry to improve efficiency, reducing costs, sharing resources. The cloud has become the most popular technical words, and even hailed as “the next generation of Internet business model after,” and Google and other Internet companies, and AT & T and other telecommunications companies vigorously sought after.

In his speech, said:” . With the development of data services and telecom-class Internet business applications, models of original design, there are many problems, such as the harmonious expansion difficult, not on demand services, the low utilization, while the use of virtualization in cloud computing and distributed technology, can achieve pool of system resources, efficiently and improve resource utilization, increase the flexibility of software systems to better serve users of telecommunications and the Internet. “

He also said that from 2003, ZTE began to set foot in the cloud computing model for the study and explore, and by virtue of the inherent advantages the telecommunications industry in the future of cloud computing technology continues to lead. ZTE recently in a number of opportunities to explore cloud computing in the telecommunications industry, the business model and key technologies, issues vendors of telecommunications equipment hunting cloud signal. IBM and EMC have been cloud computing business applications and cloud active supporter of the security zone storage, the Forum represents the telecommunications industry to a certain extent a variety of roles in the cloud in a common dialogue
